Great stuff. Behind the sludge and slime there’s an authorial voice not so different from his current writing, although the themes have changed a bit… He who gets drunk on the pope’s blood will one day join the church, etc.

DeleteYou could see the writing on the wall when he started banging on circa 1983 about how the King James Bible was his favorite book.
